Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario · Downtown Holland Street corridor
A renewed Holland Street, shaped with your input.
We're rebuilding one of our most important roads over several years. Two lanes of traffic will stay open through most of construction, and we're asking the businesses along Holland Street to help shape the plan that keeps you accessible.
Rebuilding one of our busiest streets.
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is rebuilding Holland Street to improve transportation, infrastructure, and the streetscape along one of our most important roads. The work is part of the Holland Street EA Study and supports our Transportation Master Plan and Strategic Plan.
The bypass opens a door for downtown.
The new Highway 425 (the Bradford Bypass) will shift regional traffic off Holland Street. That gives us the chance to rebuild the corridor as a safer, more walkable downtown core. We're coordinating construction with Highway 425 so the two projects work together and disruption stays as low as possible.
We want to hear from you.
Before construction begins, we're talking with the businesses along Holland Street. We've put together a short Business Engagement Survey to learn how your business operates, understand your concerns, and find ways to reduce disruption while we build.
Your answers will shape our Construction Management Plan — the document that sets out how we protect access, parking, deliveries, and visibility for local businesses throughout the project.
The Construction Management Plan will cover the things that matter most to staying open during the work:
How to take part
- Watch for an email from ecdev@townofbwg.com with your secure survey link.
- Set aside about 7 to 10 minutes to complete it.
- Click the secure link and share your feedback.
- Reach out any time with extra questions or concerns.
A phased approach.
We're building in three phases to keep Holland Street open and businesses accessible. Two lanes of traffic will stay open through most of the work.
This phasing is preliminary. The dates and order may change based on the results of the Business Engagement Survey and the timing of the Highway 425 project.
How we'll support businesses during construction.
We know construction can be hard on local businesses. Here's how we plan to keep customers coming through your door.
Open sidewalks and clear signs
We'll keep sidewalks accessible and use clear signage and wayfinding so people can find you.
Community liaison staff
Town staff will be on hand to help pedestrians reach businesses during the work.
Off-peak scheduling
Where we can, we'll schedule the most disruptive work during off-peak hours.
Temporary relocation options
We'll explore temporary relocation options for businesses where it's feasible.
Events to drive foot traffic
We'll host street events and festivals to keep visitors and shoppers coming downtown.
Two lanes kept open
We'll maintain two lanes of traffic through most of the construction period.
A walkable, welcoming downtown.
The rebuilt Holland Street is designed to bring people in: room for patios and gathering spaces, better pedestrian zones, safer routes for walking and cycling, and opportunities to reflect Indigenous histories through public art and wayfinding.
