Manufacturing

Casting on an assembly lineLocated in the heart of Canada's most populated region, with excellent access to the Greater Toronto Area and the United States through a comprehensive system of roads and rail, Bradford West Gwillimbury provides the ideal site for both bringing raw product in and shipping finished product out to domestic and international markets. Access to an extensive pool of affordable skilled and semi-skilled labour provides abundant, dedicated local employment opportunities.

Three manufacturing sub-sectors share similar characteristics and provide a host of additional forward and backward linkages to supply and retail sectors.

Machinery Manufacturing

This sub-sector comprises businesses engaged in manufacturing industrial and commercial machinery. They assemble parts into components, sub-assemblies and complete machines. Parts are both made in house, using general metalworking processes, or are purchased from local or nearby suppliers.

Fabricated Metal Products

This sub-sector comprises companies engaged in forging, stamping, forming, turning and joining processes to produce ferrous and non-ferrous metal products such as cutlery and hand tools, architectural and structural metal products, boilers, tanks and shipping containers, hardware, spring and wire products and turned products, in addition to bolts, nuts and screws.

Chemical Manufacturing

This sub-sector comprises companies engaged in manufacture chemicals and chemical preparations from organic and inorganic raw materials. Chemical manufacturing spans a broad range of activities catering to household applications such as soaps and cleaning solvents.

Advantage - Location

Proximity to markets

Bradford West Gwillimbury is an exceptional location for businesses operating in the manufacturing sector because of our proximity to major transportation routes. Our local businesses have access to major Canadian and American markets along the 400 and 404 as well as through local rail lines and international markets through nearby ports and airports. This allows them to bring in raw material and distribute their products with ease and all at a much lower operating cost than being located in towns south of Bradford.

Advantage - Labour Force

Bradford West Gwillimbury works hard to insure that our businesses have access to a strong growing labour force of skilled and semi-skilled labour at competitive wage levels.

Advantage - Cost

Ontario has a jurisdictional advantage with regard to costs over the United States. Larger multinationals often prefer smaller urban/rural locations that offer lower cost environments within which to operate their business. Cost effective access to markets remains an important advantage when considering locating your business in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
