New Economic Development Plan for Simcoe County
The County of Simcoe is embarking on the development of a new five year economic development and tourism strategic plan.  The County has hired one of Canada's leading economic development consulting firms to lead the process on their behalf.  Miller Dickson, Blais Inc has extensive knowledge of Simcoe County having worked with the City of Orillia, Barrie and the Township of Springwater in the last couple of years. Official Ribbon Cutting for the Holland Marsh Drainage System Improvement Project
Members from both Bradford West Gwillimbury and King Township gathered for a celeberation and tour of the progress completed to date on the canal. 28 km of the canal is being relocated away from the roadway for flood protection.  Dignitaries on the tour saw how the work was being completed in sections. Government Launches 2010-11 Small Business Internship Program
The SBIP helps small and medium sized businesses improve their productivity and competitiveness by hiring approximately 400 student interns annually.  Businesses are able to apply to hire a qualified student for an intern period of 12 weeks to help them with e-commerce ICT projects.  Read More

Local Businesses host an event for men to help women and children in need.
A guy's night out poker tournament is taking place on May 14, 7pm at the Bradford and District Memorial Community Centre to raise funds for the Yellow Brick House Campaign.  The capital campaign is raising money to build a second shelter.  Read More

Helping the Community go Green
Nottawasaga Futures plans to make South Simcoe a leader in a new environmentally friendly economy by launching the South Simcoe Green Economy Transition Centre.  The centre is a partnership between governments, non-profit groups, businesses and educational insititutions. Focus on Downtown Revitalization
Geoff McKnight, Director of Planning & Development outlines terms of reference for a Downtown Revitalization Strategy. The study will incorporate a parking strategy, retail analysis, commercial policy and a vision for the future downtown core. Read more in The Times

Rural Connections Boardband Service
The County of Simcoe's application to the Rural Connections Broardband program was approved by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. (OMAFRA).  This initaitive will help fund the building of highspeed infrastructures in rural and underserviced areas of Simcoe County.  Bell Aliant will be working with partners Inukshuk and Bell Canada to implement the project which is schedule for completion by April 2010.

Studio Arts Tour
